Night Fishing

Respect

It’s been a long time since I’ve sat down to write a blog post.  Between family, work, and school, life is busier than ever, and the free time I do have I’d rather spend on the water with family and friends.  As fly fishing becomes more popular, the social media scene associated with it continues to grow at a seemingly endless rate.  Is this a bad thing?  I don’t think so at all, in fact I think anything that puts fly fishing on the map is fantastic…

The In Between

March is always a bitter sweet time of year for me. Spring officially makes it’s entrance and winter slowly begins to fade away. Winter has always been one of my favorite times to fly fish. Cold weather keeps the majority of anglers at home. Cold water did the fish good after how hot things got this summer. 2013: A Year in Review (July – December)

One of my favorite fall activities is night fishing for big brown trout. Over the past year, Chris and I have scouted out a lot of different places that we thought would produce a monster brown in the still of the night…

What Can Walmart Do For You?

The transition from from carp to trout went smoothly and it didn’t take long to hook into some feisty ‘bows. Sometime last week I said that I was done night fishing for the year unless a good warm front came through. Well, earlier in the week we had a warm spell and night fishing was back on my mind. My buddy Gabe was coming up from Utah for the weekend and I thought to myself, what better way to get the weekend started than a little night fishing…

Round Two

Wind, cold fronts, and dropping river flows usually don’t result in very favorable fishing. Chris and I were still on a fly fishing high from our last night fishing experience and we expected the drastic changes might have slowed the fishing down. With that said, we still stuck with the plan…

Things That Go Bump in the Night!

Night fishing is always something that I have wanted to learn more about and become proficient at. Saturday night provided a perfect opportunity to do so. The moon was full, providing great light, and the river flows have finally come down to manageable enough wading levels…
