Fun Farm

Today was my first day at the fly shop and it went great.  After work I decided to go fishing since the weather was so nice.  I first headed up to warm river to see if any caddis were coming off.  They were coming off like crazy but there werent a whole lot of fish on them at all.  I drove down to the take out at Ashton and spoke to a man who had floated the river and fished all day.  He said the fishing was very slow and he only saw two fish up on bugs all day.  I was disappointed that none of the fish were keying in on the bus but expected it a little to the rivers rising flows.  I decided to venture further downstream and hit fun farm, which turned out to be a good choice.  I pulled up and watche for some rises and found one fish rising pretty regularly.  I got in position and casted and he hit the fly pretty quickly.  Unfortunately for me I got a little excited and pulled the hook straight out of his mouth.  Needless to say he was no longer interested when I casted again.  I decided to move further upstream and check out a flat that I like to fish.  No fish were up on it so I decided I would swing a wooly bugger dropped with a rubber legs.  This was the ticket.  Just a few casts in I had a nice trout on the end of the line.  I didn’t realize it was a fish until it was too late though and it got off.  I managed a couple trout and missed a few others as well.  I saw one whopper of a fish rise that I hope lives in that stretch of river so I have a chance at him next time.
